Class FAQ's What are basic sewing supplies? Straight pins, snips, scissors, etc.
Do I need to make a deposit to hold my place in class? Yes, a deposit is needed to reserve your place in class.
What happens if I can’t come to the class? If you cancel from the class 72 hours (3 days) or more BEFORE the class, your deposit will be refunded. If you fail to show for class, no refund will be given.
What happens if the store cancels the class? If the instructor/store cancels the class, your deposit will be refunded.
Do I need to bring my machine to class? Yes, you can bring your own machine as long it’s in good working order and you are familiar with operating the machine. If your machine was purchased from The Sewing Center, we will be familiar with it and may be able to provide assistance. If the machine was purchases elsewhere, we may/may not be able to provide operating assistance or accessories.
What if I don’t have a machine to bring to class? Please let us know when registering if you will need a machine and we’ll be happy to provide one for you!
What do I do about lunch for all day classes? You may want to bring a sandwich; we have drinks available. Also, McDonald’s, Sonic, and a Chinese restaurant are close by if you wish to “go out” for lunch.
Can I bring someone else with me such as my mom or my son/daughter? No children or other non-paying persons are allowed to accompany class participant.

Rotary Cut Border Bag: The Zipper Bag or Allie’s Bag: Choose one of our two most popular bag designs and learn the techniques used to sew double-faced quilted fabrics. Class fee includes kit for purse with fabric, pattern, zipper, thread, and pattern. Free Motion Quilting: Join me for this class and practice this exciting technique. You will learn machine set-up, the best threads, battings, etc. to use to make this technique successful. Enjoy the freedom this type of quilting gives you. Supply list when registering. Date: Saturday, April 19, 1:00 -3:30 pm Fee: $40.00 (includes book, batting, sample fabric, thread) Supplies to bring: Sewing machine in good working order with feed dogs that drop, Basic sewing supplies, 1 empty bobbin, size 14 needle in machine
It’s a Wrap: The Clothesline Bowl: This is a fun project that uses scraps and gives you a pretty finished project. All you need is clothesline, scraps, and a machine with a zig-zag stitch! Date: Saturday, May 3, 10:30-3:30 Fee: $40.00 (includes book, clothesline, and fabrics) Supplies to bring: Sewing machine in good working order with zigzag stitch, Basic sewing supplies, 1 empty bobbin, size 14 needle in machine, Neutral thread for bobbin and needle--Coats & Clark Dual Duty Plus is good.
Finishing Your Quilt: We'll complete a small "cheater" (20" x 20") quilt by adding borders, quilting using straight line techniques, and binding. Date: Saturday May 17, 10:30-3:30 Fee: $35.00 Supplies to bring: Sewing machine in good working order, basic sewing supplies, 1 empty bobbin, size 14 needle in machine, walking or even feed foot
Stack ‘n Whack Pinwheel Quilt: If you haven’t tried the Stack ‘n Whack technique, this is an excellent project to begin with. Choose a patterned fabric, stack the layers, and whack them apart to create unique pinwheel designs. Sample on display at store. Date: Saturday, May 31, 10:30-3:30 Fee: $30.00 Supplies to bring: Detailed list of fabrics and supplies will be available when registering at store.
Weaving Scraps into Placemats! This is a nonsewing class…join me and learn how to weave placemats on a basic loom from all those fabrics in your stash. Placemats can be stitched together to form a tablerunner. Date: Saturday, June 7, 10:30-3:30 Fee: $50.00 (Includes book, loom, and assorted fabric strips) $40.00 if bringing your own fabrics* *Supplies to bring: If you choose, bring 4-5 yds. of assorted fabrics from your stash. Precut into 1 1/2" wide strips.
Three Poseys Applique: Learn satin stitch and decorative stitch applique as you make this wallhanging or first block for a full size quilt. Block size is 14" x 21". Sample on display at store.
